Infants & Toddlers

Infant Program
Infant time period is probably the most significant of development. Children begin learning at birth.
You're infant learns all about their surroundings by seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, feeling, and by physically moving around. Through holding, singing, cuddling and communicating what is going on around them, I will give individualized care and attention that will help develop the foundations for language and early learning.

I offer childcare services for a multi-age group of children. I feel strongly that infants gain valuable learning opportunities from children in similar learning stages as well as older children who can share their world in many ways and teach through guided caring and sharing moments.

Breastfed Babies
I am supportive of mother’s breast feeding infants. I follow specific guidelines when working with Breast Milk. I require Breast Milk to be supplied in specific color coded or pattern coded bottles, if more then one bottle fed baby is in care at the same time. I will discuss these rules individually with each breast feeding mother. Breast Milk must be supplied to the child care in appropriate bottles on a daily basis. A minimum of eight (8) ounces must be provided to the provider to be stored in the freezer as a back up supply.

Infant Schedules
I will attempt to respect and keep the newborn infant feeding schedule requested by the parent if at all possible. Infants on bottles only will be fed when hungry. A hungry infant must not be forced to wait to eat. This is critically important to their brain development. No infant who is hungry will be forced to wait to eat because of parents requested feeding schedule. NO EXCEPTIONS! Infants on solid foods will eat with the child care at regularly scheduled child care meal times.

Infant Activities
Curriculum planning for infants and young toddlers is flexible and changes to include time for children's interests.  Choices for activities are offered to infants might include; activities that stimulate the senses of sight, touch, sound and smell. Open ended art project that are child directed, reading books, listening to and singing songs, activities that foster motor development, manipulative toys, soft blocks and pretend play. Individual play is closely supervised by sitting close by or on the same level as the children.

Toddler Curriculum
As a toddler, your child will receive the individualized attention and interaction they require. There are fun things to watch, touch and do. I listen and communicate with each child and try to anticipate individual needs. Since children learn through playing and exploring, I provide them with a wide range of activities throughout the day. Language, self-help and potty-training skills develop during this period. As soon as your child appears to be ready for toilet training; we will work together to develop a short-term success plan that will produce a positive outcome for your child.
